At least when we were drafting on paper (or whatever) a person really thought about what it was they were going to represent when that line was drawn, because no one wanted to redraw. I simply cannot beleive how painful it is to manipulate "stuff" in 2D CAD versus an object modeler like Revit.

If you place a model component in a view that is set to the New Construction phase (under View Properties), that component automatically gets placed in the New Construction phase.

Some food for thought: Could it (read that as "it will") be better to let the walls be modeled as they will be built (with dead spaces in between), rather than using in-place walls that simply mimic old methodologies, like CAD or Hand drawn lines filled with poche or hatching? Outside of being clumsy, the other issue with some of these tools is cost, Codebook for example doesnt work as a business model for small projects, unless youve got the big project(s) to cut your teeth on it and standardize it. We often have split level projects and weve had a lot of trouble isolating the stem walls and footings from the rest of the model for use in a foundation plan.
