Concrete Balusters and Railing

Revit OpEd

Several years ago, as part of a task I was given by a team at WATG , I created six concrete baluster families and mocked one of them up in a stair that I posted in a THREAD at AUGI. I thought I'd dig them up and post them so that others might either use them or reverse engineer how I built them. The balusters are comprised of a Generic Model Solid Revolve derived from the profiles available from CDI.

+/- offset(s) for families

Do

So have you ever wanted to give users the ability to offset and object either plus or minus a certain distance from a constant reference point. Like maybe you have a custom curtain panel family that you want the user to be able to plug in 1' 0" to offset the panel forward one foot from the curtain wall centerline, or you want them to be able to put -6" into the same field and have the panel move backwards 6" away from the centerline.

Revit MEP HVAC Plans Ceiling Plan or Floor Plan?

CAD Shack

If you are using Revit MEP, you might be thinking about your HVAC plans and wondering should you use a floor plan (which looks down and excludes the ceiling grid) or a Ceiling plan (which looks up and seems to invert which duct is actually on top when duct cross). Here is what I have come up with so far. I use both. I model in the ceiling plan view because I need the ceiling grid to place my diffusers and miss the lights fixtures.

Last year's acquisition of Hillier Architecture by RMJM was called a merger at the time. It was an acquisition as so many of these M&A deals are. If I've written it once, I've written it a bunch of times: There is very rarely such a thing as a merger. It's called a merger to make the acquired firm feel good, but it's an acquisition. Grids That Don't Show Up

Revit will not display Grids that are not perpendicular to the view cut plane. Revit developers chose this because they preferred not to convey ambiguity with important datum elements. It then uses a symbolic line drawn in the Front Elevation to act as a "Grid Line".
