If you have to.here is some text from the 2010 help file: When you import a drawing into Revit, you are importing all the elements, such as blocks and external references (xrefs) from the drawing. If I understand their logic, it means that using Positioning: Auto-By Shared Coordinates when we link a file triggers a response in Revit that it needs to create a UCS (User Coordinate System) to permit AutoCAD users to align these files if they are combined (apart from Revit) in AutoCAD at some point.

In AutoCAD you can add text to linetypes but youll notice that in Revit you cant. This workaround involves drawing a repeating detail line (with imported text) on top of a simple detail line. Type out the text you want in AutoCAD (at a height of say 6") and save as a DWG. Now draw a detail line in any view of your project.

This comes from having AutoCAD drawings in which my ceiling grid and the architects often were different. In AutoCAD I would make it no plot, so I can reference it. There I have the correct orientation of duct. I never print the ceiling grid. Modeling in the ceiling plan view handles that.

Yesterday I had a viewport that I could not select in AutoCAD MEP. To get at it I issued the moved command and typed "all" at the command line effectively selecting every object in the drawing. It just couldn't be picked even with a crossing window. I really didn't know if it was a viewport.

Simply select an AutoCAD block, right click and select "Convert to" then "Convert to Device". If ABS detects any other blocks with the same name in the current drawing, it will ask you if you want to convert them all.
